The wood used for yacht furniture, often selected for its natural beauty and durability, is prone to whitening due to improper application of polyester primer, prolonged exposure to UV rays, salt water, and the use of harsh detergents. Whitening manifests as discolored or dulled areas, compromising the aesthetics and value of the wood veneer. Our company has eliminated the use of polyester and uses only epoxy polyurethane and acrylic primers.

Restoration Technique Restoring bleaching is a delicate procedure that requires specific skills and the use of materials compatible with the marine environment. The process involves several phases:

Damage Assessment The depth and extent of the bleaching is analyzed to determine whether the damage is superficial (only on the protective film) or whether it has affected the wood fibers.
Cleaning and preparation: The area is cleaned with neutral detergents and dried thoroughly. In some cases, light sanding is performed to remove damaged surface film.
Regenerating treatment: Specific toners for nautical wood are applied to restore the original color and nourish the fibers. Alternatively, water-based toners can be used to even out the shade.
Protective finish Once the color has been restored, a new transparent protective finish (polyurethane varnish, UV resin) is applied to protect the wood from future environmental damage.
Final polishing After drying, we proceed with a pad or machine polishing to restore shine and uniformity to the surface.
